A WORD FROM THE CHIEF
August 22, 2010
Another month has passed and the members at Perth Fire are busy selling tickets for our 65th Anniversary Raffle. We are also just starting the layout for our Annual Newsletter that will be out 2 weeks prior to elections and planning our Annual Halloween Dance that will be held October 30, 2010 from 8pm till midnight. This year the Fire Company will be celebrating the Dance in conjunction with our 65 years of service to the Town of Perth.
Over the years our community has been very supportive in the Memory Tree Program that we offer. This program is where for a donation, the Fire Company lights a lite on our Memory Tree in the front of the station from dusk till dawn starting Thanksgiving Day and runs through till New Years Day. Your donations to this program is what made it possible to construct the Memorial in the fromt of the station honoring all past, present and future members of the Perth Volunteer Fire Company Inc.
Since last reporting, the Fire Company has taken delivery of forestry equipment made possible through an ENCON matching grant and now we are waiting for the final inspection before we can place this equipment in service. The seven sets of gear obtained with the help of Senator Farley through a State Grant has been delivered with a few alterations needed to be completed, but we are very thankful for the Senators help.
This past month the Fire Company, in with conjunction with Galway, Hagaman and a few other fire companies, had completed its yearly hose testing by Safety First. This is the first time Perth Fire has had an outside company complete this task and are very happy with the results. We look forward to working with this company in the future.
The Perth Fire Company is very fortunate to have a group of people so dedicated to keeping our Town safe. These individuals all have families and work, some working two or three jobs, and they still find the time to not only answer the call for "help", but to train to better themselves as Firefighters and EMT's. Place that to the side and now ask these same members to raise money through fundraising instead of raising the fire tax. All in all, our members believe fundraising is what keeps the Town spirits alive. We ask for your support in each and every event we sponsor, from fundraising to open houses.
Lets not forget the Auxiliary Election Day bake Sale. This has been very succesful over the years!!
